hand tuned

From the practical, inexpensive Workhorse right through to the high-end Entertainer Pro, every Red Hill system is hand-tuned for performance and security.

First, we streamline the software setup so that your system starts up quickly and runs reliably. Unlike supermarket systems, which are usually so loaded down with useless eye candy that they barely function, our systems perform.

system security

In a properly configured system, your anti-virus package is the last line of defence — just a safety backup. Anti-virus programs can only kick in and protect you against a virus after you have downloaded it. The first step is to make it more difficult for a virus to get into your system in the first place. Security-conscious software setup is the key.

The single most common cause of computer problems these days is not viruses (though they remain a substantial issue), it is spyware — software that loads itself onto your system and broadcasts your personal information. Anti-virus packages are powerless against spyware.

Red Hill systems come with dedicated anti-spyware software pre-installed, and with current-generation web browsers that block commercial pop-up windows and resist spyware infection.

the red hill difference

In essence, there are three ways to set up a new computer.

  1. The lazy way. Do as little as possible. Just provide the machinery and expect the customer to figure everything out. Don't do anything to make it more pleasant to use or safer.
  2. The mindless way. Load absolutely everything. Fill the screen up with lots of glitzy icons to make it look as though you are providing extra value, most of them serving no purpose except to slow the system down and make it more complicated.
  3. The right way. Load the essentials and just the essentials. Trim out all the power-hungry functions that aren't doing anything helpful. Then add practical tools.

It takes time and skill to set up a new system so that it's running at its best but it makes a massive difference to the end result.
